YASIF has carried out an indigenous tree planting exercise in Pegi and Kango Communities, Kuje Area Council, Abuja, as part of the Community RISE Project.
The exercise gave community members an opportunity to take part directly in environmental action within their communities. Participants planted indigenous tree species and discussed the importance of protecting the local environment and preserving it for future generations.

The use of indigenous tree species was particularly relevant to the activity, as the trees are suited to the local environment. Their planting will contribute to the restoration of green spaces, support biodiversity, and promote local environmental conservation.
The activity is part of YASIF’s work under the Community RISE (Resilience for Inclusive and Sustainable Environments) Project, which focuses on climate resilience and community-led environmental management in Pegi and Kango.

The project is supported by CAFOD and implemented by a consortium led by the Justice, Development and Peace Caritas Initiative (JDPCI), with YASIF, the Centre for Women Studies and Intervention (CWSI), and Big Family 360 as implementing partners.
The tree planting activity adds to the ongoing work under Community RISE as activities continue across Pegi and Kango Communities.
