The Re-Skilling Revolution Africa initiative has moved into Phase 2, opening another stage in expanding digital learning and practical training for young people in Nigeria. YASIF is leading this effort with the support of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) and IBM SkillsBuild. This new phase reflects a stronger focus on helping young Africans gain skills that match today’s digital world. As technology shapes workplaces and business environments, young people need clear access to training that helps them stay prepared.
Phase 2 of the IAVE RRA SkillsBuild Program offers young learners a chance to explore courses and learning paths that match current job demands. The platform provides digital lessons, career tools, and certifications that young people can use as they look toward employment or entrepreneurship. This phase also extends the program to Niger, Katsina, the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, and Kaduna, making sure that more communities can benefit from structured learning and skill-building activities.
Phase 1 recorded strong results. A total of 12,000 young people took part in the program, and over 1,200 digital credentials were earned. More than half of the learners were women, which shows a rising interest among young females in digital and technical skills. Courses on climate change and green economy topics gained notable attention, pointing to the growing interest in environmental and sustainability issues. These outcomes show what is possible when young people have access to the right opportunities.
The growth of this initiative has been supported by IAVE, whose steady involvement and leadership continue to create opportunities across Africa. For Phase 2, YASIF also recognizes the work of Emerging Communities Africa and Lil’ Gifted Hands. Their role in community engagement and learner support will help the program reach more young people and produce real results.
With Phase 2 now active, YASIF will continue creating pathways for young people to learn, gain experience, and build confidence. Updates on participation, schedules, and local activities will be shared across YASIF platforms. Young Nigerians interested in digital learning and career development are encouraged to stay connected.
